Royal palaces, coffee estates & Nilgiri mist

A classic South India loop — the illuminated Wodeyar palaces of Mysore, the coffee-scented slopes and Abbey Falls of Coorg, and the tea-carpeted hills of Ooty with a UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Mountain Railway joyride.
Every Mysore · Coorg · Ooty journey we design is grounded in local relationships — vetted hotels, hand-picked guides and a curator on call whenever you need us. This itinerary suits couples, families and small groups seeking a balance of iconic sights, culture and quiet time.
Airport pickup at Kempegowda International (Bangalore) and a 3.5-hour drive down the Mysore expressway to India's cultural capital. After check-in and a traditional Mysorean thali lunch, visit the illuminated Amba Vilas (Mysore Palace) — best on Sunday and public-holiday evenings when 97,000 bulbs light up the façade. Evening free at Devaraja Market for silk, sandalwood and mysore-pak.
Guided morning tour of Mysore Palace (Indo-Saracenic Wodeyar residence), Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery and the Government Silk Weaving Factory. Post-lunch drive up Chamundi Hills to the Chamundeshwari temple and the giant Nandi statue. Evening at Brindavan Gardens for the KRS Dam musical fountain (7 PM show).
3-hour scenic drive to Coorg via Kushalnagar. Visit the Namdroling Golden Temple at Bylakuppe — the largest Tibetan monastic settlement outside Tibet — and the Dubare Elephant Camp for a supervised elephant interaction and river bath. Check into your coffee-estate resort for the night; evening bonfire on the plantation.
Sunrise plantation walk with an estate manager — coffee, pepper, cardamom and vanilla vines — followed by breakfast on the veranda. Visit Abbey Falls and Raja's Seat viewpoint. After lunch, a 5-hour drive through Nagarhole and Bandipur Tiger Reserves to Ooty (7,300 ft). Evening at Ooty Lake for pedal boats and horse rides.
Full day of Nilgiri classics: Government Botanical Gardens (2,000+ species), Doddabetta Peak (2,637 m — the highest in the Nilgiris), Rose Garden and the Tea Museum with a factory tour. The highlight is the 1-hour UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Mountain Railway joyride from Ooty to Coonoor through 16 tunnels and 250 bridges. Evening chocolate and eucalyptus-oil shopping on Commercial Road.
Relaxed breakfast at Coonoor's Sim's Park with cascading tea slopes, then transfer down the ghat to Coimbatore International Airport (2.5 hours). Depart with home-ground Coorg coffee, Ooty chocolate and the aroma of the Western Ghats.

Ideal — Mysore Palace, the elephant camp, botanical gardens and the UNESCO toy train are child-favourites. All hotels are family-friendly with kids' pools and menus. We can add Ooty Lake pedal boats, GRT Nature Park and the Wax Museum on request.
Yes — a morning or evening jeep safari at Bandipur (Tamil Nadu side is Mudumalai) can be added for a small supplement. Sightings include gaur, sambar, spotted deer and occasionally leopard or tiger. Safaris depend on Forest Department availability and are subject to weather.
The joyride segment (Ooty → Coonoor → Ooty) is roughly 1 hour each way through 16 tunnels and 250 bridges — a UNESCO World Heritage experience. Advance booking is essential; we handle it as part of the package.
The main highways stay open, but plantation lanes get muddy and leech-prone. If you're travelling June–August, we swap in an estate resort with paved access and adjust the plantation walk to a covered coffee-museum experience.
Absolutely — Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are two of India's most vegetarian-friendly regions. Every hotel offers pure-veg menus and we can arrange satvik / Jain meals on advance notice.
All three destinations connect by good state highways (SH-88, NH-181). Drives are 3–5 hours each with plenty of scenic breaks. The Bandipur–Mudumalai transit closes to vehicles between 9 PM and 6 AM as a wildlife-protection measure — our itinerary respects that timing.
